Wednesday Devotional: Remembering that Jesus Loves Me

John 15:9,13

I heard the sweetest little boy sing "Jesus Loves Me" on a social media video post. At first, I couldn't make out what he was singing, because he wasn't yet of age to command his words. But after a while, I realized he was singing "Jesus Loves Me."

I hope and pray that he will always know and remember that Jesus loves him. But here's a question: Have we forgotten, now that we're past the phase of singing this children's song? Do we truly believe and know that Jesus loves us?

We are assured by John 15:9 and John 15:13 (ESV):

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

Not only did Jesus confirm that he loves us with the same love he received from the Father, but he also demonstrated it by his sacrifice for our sake. Giving himself up to the cross, Jesus served as the sacrificial lamb to atone for our sins, if we would only accept this sacrifice in our hearts.

We may know these facts in our heads, but we need to move them that long distance from head to heart. To truly believe and cherish Jesus's love for us is to sing "Jesus Loves Me" in our spirits forever.

If you or someone you know have a hard time believing that Jesus loves you, please seek out my most popular award-winning book, "Live Like You're Loved." I walk through the scriptural truths that you are loved by God, forgiven by God, sent by God daily, and connected to God eternally. Then I share the steps to embed these truths in your heart and act them out in a transformed life. Please learn more at CecilTaylorMinistries.com/live-like-you-re-loved.
