Seven-Day Practical Faith Blog: What Would You Do If You Knew Jesus Was With You?

I recently dreamed about overcoming a fear and doing something to help others at the same time. I call it, The Salt Bay Dream.
I dreamed I was in a salty bay, similar to the Dead Sea or the Great Salt Lake, where you can float and not sink. I discovered in the dream that I could swim atop the water at a high rate of speed. As a result, I swam around like a lifeguard with a rocket pack, rescuing people. Sometimes I was more like a transport ship, zipping supplies from one side of the bay to the other.
My confidence grew as I kept swimming. I trusted I wouldn't sink, no matter what happened.
You see, in real life, I'm not a strong swimmer or even a good floater. I have a fear of water, stemming partially from losing my middle school best friend in a drowning accident. To dream of confident swimming was a beautiful vision.
When I awoke, I wondered a classic question, "What would I do if I knew I couldn't fail?" Then I took it a step further: "What would I do if I knew Jesus was with me to support and rescue me?"
That's the question I want to ask you.
The thing is, Jesus is always with you. No, not every outcome is successful. You may even wonder if Jesus is doing much rescuing.
But Christ's presence is indeed always with us. That knowledge alone should help our daily faith walk.
What faithful thing would we do with Jesus's support? Would we be bolder in sharing the gospel? Would we take more risks in service? Would we be calmer when we met crisis? Would we be more loving toward our neighbors instead of feeling threatened by them?
Jesus is like the salt bay in my dream, holding us up so we can do wonderful, unimaginable things in his name.
